Our digital terrain models of the sediments guarantee fast and accurate volume determinations.
Using a multibeam echo sounder Geo Plus Holland measures the top of the sediments at a high density of points and a Digital Terrain Model can be made. This DTM shows a surface elevation model of the sediments. The density of points is so high that objects (wrecks, poles, etc.) can be observed. When there is sufficient water under vessels, also docks or overhanging quays can be measured.
The result is presented as a high resolution flat solid color map of the sediment depths relative to a reference height. Furthermore, a 3D model can be created. It is also possible to generate at arbitrarily distances long- and cross-sections from the Digital Terrain Model. With our systems we can measure in very shallow waters. The high cruising speed (approximately 6 to 8 knots) during measurements provide fast and cost-effective recordings. In addition the Geo Plus prepared models can be used in dredging navigation and excavation.
